What are Reddit Conversions API events?
Reddit's current direct-integration guide uses CAPI v3. Pixel Activator keeps the two labels consistent with its other connectors: Pixel ID and Access token.
Which account and credential should you find?
The screen-by-screen path is in Reddit Pixel ID and conversion token.
- Open Reddit Ads Manager and select the advertiser account for the campaign.
- In Events Manager, choose Configure data source, then Conversions API > Set up manually. If no Pixel exists yet, choose Conversions API Only.
- Select Copy to Clipboard for the Pixel ID.
- Select Generate Access Token, name the token, generate it, and copy it before closing the dialog.
- Paste the two values into Pixel Activator's Pixel ID and Access token fields.
Enter the Reddit Pixel ID, not an ad account ID, campaign ID, or public username. For the manual setup described here, use Reddit's recommended non-expiring conversion access token. This recommendation does not exclude developer-app tokens with the adsconversions scope in other supported API workflows, and token type alone does not confirm event acceptance.
Which conversion should you send first?
| Business action | Reddit GTM SDK event example | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Page visit | PAGE_VISIT | Basic website visit |
| Form submitted | LEAD | Configured lead conversion |
| Order paid | PURCHASE | Order ID, value, and currency |
| Account created | SIGN_UP | Configured registration conversion |
Avoid substituting a paid order (PURCHASE) with PAGE_VISIT: a page visit shows interest but does not confirm payment and skews campaign optimization.
How do you test Reddit delivery?
- In Reddit Ads Manager, open Events Manager and go to the Event Testing tab.
- Copy the active
test_id. - Use it in Pixel Activator only if the interface exposes a Reddit
test_idfield. The API documentation does not establish that the tool provides this control. - Send one event in the test request. The official Reddit GTM SDK template maps
PAGE_VISIT,PURCHASE,LEAD, andSIGN_UP; these examples do not describe an exhaustive API schema or prove tool support. - Check the Reddit Event Testing console. The documented response can take up to five seconds.
Does Reddit need deduplication?
Use event deduplication as the design reference for your tracker. Do not claim that a browser and server event were merged until Reddit reporting or its official specification confirms it.
What should you verify before automation?
- Advertiser account matches the campaign owner.
- Credential is a supported authorised secret, not a public identifier.
- Event matches a real completed action.
- One test is visible in the expected conversion view.
- Browser and server rules are documented before both are enabled.
Reddit conversion mistakes to avoid
| Mistake | Fix |
|---|---|
| Campaign ID used instead of the Reddit Pixel ID | Return to Events Manager and copy the Reddit Pixel ID |
| Public account name used as a credential | Create the authorised API credential through Reddit's official flow |
| Event fired on a button click | Move it to the actual completed action |
| Duplicate logic assumed without evidence | Review the current Reddit conversion documentation and test reporting |
