Snapchat Conversions API Token: Generation, Scope, and Refresh Reality

The Snapchat Conversions API token is Snap's credential for server-side event delivery, and it breaks the pattern most networks train you to expect: instead of an OAuth flow with expiring tokens and refresh schedules, Snap issues a static, long-lived token from the Business Manager UI. The token travels in every request as an Authorization Bearer header, and its scope rule is the one multi-account teams discover the hard way.

Where the Token Lives

The documented path: open Business Manager, find the OAuth Apps section, and inside it the Conversions API Tokens subsection - a screen visible only to users with the Organization Admin role. Generating a token there produces the credential your delivery layer sends as Authorization: Bearer <token>. A third-party OAuth flow exists for platforms integrating on behalf of many customers; a single advertiser running its own funnel does not need it. The surrounding setup - match keys and the first test event - is covered in Snapchat Conversions API setup.

Static Means: Hygiene, Not Rotation

Because the token does not expire, there is no rotation calendar and no scheduled breakage - the failure mode moves entirely to leaks. A token pasted into a client bundle or a group chat stays usable until revoked, so the storage discipline is identical to any other CAPI credential: server-side only, treated as a password without an expiry date.

The Organization Scope Rule

Snap's reference states the scope plainly: a token only sends events for pixel and app IDs belonging to the same organization as the token. A token from one organization pointing at a pixel from another fails - which is the configuration mistake behind a surprising share of «my token is valid but events are rejected» reports in multi-account setups. The rejection families and their fixes are in Snapchat Conversions API errors, and the cluster overview in the complete guide.
